Lake Forest Middle Students Grow and Learn with Indoor Hydroponic Gardening
Liz Moffitt

Students in Mrs. Dodson’s class at Lake Forest Middle School are taking hands-on learning to a new level through their ZipGrow indoor hydroponic garden.

After planting seeds in mid-September, students recently harvested kale and dill, sampling their crops by preparing kale chips and dill dip. They are also growing lettuce, cilantro, and basil as part of an ongoing project that connects science, sustainability, and nutrition.

The ZipGrow system allows plants to grow indoors without soil by circulating nutrient-rich water through vertical towers equipped with LED lights. This innovative setup uses up to 90% less water than traditional gardening and enables students to observe the complete growing process from seed to harvest—all within the classroom.

Bradley County Schools celebrates Mrs. Dodson and her students for their creativity and commitment to hands-on, cross-curricular learning experiences.

Oak Grove Students Honor Veterans Through Art
Liz Moffitt

Oak Grove Elementary students used their creativity to honor and thank those who have served our country. In art class, students learned about heroes, the five branches of the military, and the true meaning of Veterans Day.

To show their appreciation, students created beautiful, heartfelt cards filled with gratitude and encouragement. These cards were delivered to the Tennessee State Veterans Home, where they were shared with residents who have dedicated their lives to service.

We are so proud of our Oak Grove Falcons for expressing kindness, respect, and gratitude in such a meaningful way.
